Building a National CLT Network
ICE
hosted a meeting of CLT leaders in May of 1998 to begin thinking about ways
that CLTs could work together to address their mutual needs. That
meeting led to a CLT Network convention in March of 2000, and an inaugural
meeting in Albuquerque, NM
on November 8, 2000.
ICE
provided staffing and funding to nurture the new organization from its
inception until December of 2005 when The Network officially became
independent and is now known as The National Community Land Trust Network.
The
National Community Land Trust Network represents and promotes the interests
of groups and individuals affiliated with community land trusts throughout
North America. These include members of CLTs, staff and general supporters who align
themselves with the CLT model of creating and preserving permanently
affordable housing through the democratic stewardship of land.
The Network serves a broad array of interests and is currently governed by
an interim board consisting of 21 members representing a variety of
geographic regions. This interim board will be dissolved and a permanent
board constituted at the National CLT conference in Boulder
,
CO
in July of 2006. See www.communitylots.org
for additional information on the conference.
The
National Community Land Trust Network listserv email address is NACLTNetwork@yahoogroups.com.
If you wish to join you may do so by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NACLTNetwork
. The forum is open to all groups and individuals affiliated with community
land trusts throughout North America.
If
you have any questions, please contact Alice Stokes, National Community Land
Trust Network at (802) 862-5430 or astokes@getahome.org.
ICE's
listerv remains active and has been renamed The ICECLTForum. The new email
address is ICECLTForum@yahoogroups.com.
If you wish to join you may do so by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/ICECLTForum.
The ICECLTForum is
open to individuals and organizations who work, volunteer, or are interested
in the affordable housing field. The Community Land Trust (CLT) model is a
flexible vehicle that can be added to the tools available for creating
affordable housing. The primary focus of this group is the use of the CLT to
achieve permanently affordable housing goals. If you have any questions,
please contact Michelle Lancto, Program Officer or Yesenia Perez, Executive
Assistant at (413) 746-8660 or info@iceclt.org.
ICE
wishes The National Community Land Trust Network much success in achieving
its mission as a trade organization for CLTs, and looks forward to working
collaboratively in the future.
